Bridon International – Top up HR Support to aid Business Transformation
Bridon International is a global technology leader in the manufacture of wire and fibre rope solutions for the most demanding applications. As part of a strategic review, Bridon recognised that their site in Coatbridge, Scotland, where they manufacture fibre rope solutions would benefit from an increased level of Human Resources support.
Bridon works to ensure its manufacturing operation is as productive, competitive and efficient as possible, and works to sustain the sort of staffing and skills mix that keeps a global manufacturing operation competitive. Bridon recognised the need for increased people investment to ensure on-going success in supporting the company’s aims of creating market leading returns.
As part of its plan to revitalise the Coatbridge operation, Bridon recruited an experienced and driven Operations Manager, Hugh Dick, to run the site. In addition to Bridon’s Doncaster based HR team, Hugh enlisted additional support from Solve to support the site with specific strategic and operational resource to achieve its targets.
Partnering at senior management level, Solve has supported Bridon Coatbridge by:
Listening to the immediate needs of the Operations Manager, which were to manage all ongoing employee relations issues whilst preserving relationships, and proposing solutions to these issues, creating an ‘HR Roadmap’ to support the Operations Manager with his on-going strategic people management aims. These included increased employee engagement and involvement initiatives, improved recruitment selection through a recruitment review, and partner assessment to deliver an end to end optimisation of site operations
Researching and making recommendations on the procurement of an Occupational Health provider for the site, negotiating contractual terms and implementing the service to support the health and safety obligations of the business
Creating a suite of reporting processes that would enable the Operations Manager to have people related management information at his fingertips in areas such as absence, recruitment and exit interview data
Through dedication to value adding HR solutions at a strategic and operational level, Solve continue to work closely with Bridon International to transform the people management practices on site and support in maintaining all key operational plans.
